You see all that, yeah? My laptop notebook gets hot. Why am I posting this in a gaming blog? Are we off topic before we started.
Not quite.
Most ĦдгδκΟЯЭ (sic) PC Gamers know that heat is a problem. Computers will overheat just form being on for a measly nine months in the summer in a poorly ventilated home. Desktops give you more cooling options (I.E. Removing the case) but laptops can be a tricky beast. The SpeedFan printout there is from my laptop. My desktop (even now) is nowhere near those temperatures. In fact, it never gets over 115°F. Normally it idles around 90°F. Yes, only 90°F. That’s like zero in computer temperature. So, when I saw the laptop temperature, there was much gasping (even though I knew it was fine four cores in a tiny space which will obviously get hotter than one in a pretty big space). Also the plastic case for laptops will not absorb heat. It will feel warm, but it won’t hold heat. This so you can actually Y’know use it when it’s hot.
Laptops are just bad at being cool. Luckily technology can now stand more heat than before, but it’s still not perfect. I can’t play games on my laptop without the graphics card freaking out that it’s too hot (now that it’s summer). If this were a desktop I would remove the case. Then, maybe I would put a (full-sized) box fan over it.
Well I can’t take off my laptop/notebook/booktop/lapnote’s case buuuuuuuut I can put a fan to help air circulate! I had a cheap little (say, 6 inches) box fan that my mom picked up for $3 years ago (I think six years ago…?). They work wonderfully. I wish I had a picture of the setup I used it for with my Wii when that was overheating. If you can pick up cheap small boxfans they are a great investment for people with overheating electronics.
You can get SpeedFan here (and it’s free!).
